About the Park:
Smith Mountain Lake Community Park is a beautiful 37-acre, lakefront paradise featuring 1.7 miles of walking trails, a partly covered handicap accessible fishing pier, seasonal beach access, playground and picnic shelter.

Beach Access
The community park beach at Smith Mountain Lake is open daily from May 28 to August 9 and weekends only from August 13 to September 5. For just $3 per person 3+, you can enjoy a relaxing day on the lake, dip in the lake or exercise in the designated swimming lane.
For the safety of beachgoers, beach access is only permitted when a lifeguard is on duty and dogs are not allowed in the beach area (pets are allowed in other areas of the park).

Handicap Accessible Fishing Pier
Located on the shores of Smith Mountain Lake, the handicap accessible fishing pier features prime access to incredible fishing. This 150-foot pier offers partial covering and seating to enjoy soaking a line or just enjoying the beauty of Smith Mountain Lake.
Artificial fish structure has been strategically placed around the pier to improve habitat and increase the opportunity for anglers to catch a fish. Potential target species include:
- Largemouth Bass
- Smallmouth Bass
- Striped Bass
- Channel Catfish
- Flathead Catfish
- Bluegill
- Green Sunfish
- Crappie
- Yellow Perch
- Carp

Playground and Children's Area
For a quick lunch picnic or dedicated playtime, Smith Mountain Lake Community Park offers a great opportunity to allow the kids time to play while you take in the gentle sounds of lake life.

Lakeview Trail
The Smith Mountain Lake Community Park features 1.7 miles of trails winding along the lakefront. The Lakefront Trail will take hikers on a gentle excursion around the perimeter of the 37-acre park with wonderful lake and mountain vistas. Click here for a map of the Lakeview Trail System.
